You want something interesting in your entry. It's a large two story entry. You have fallen in love (or you at least like the looks of) Venetian Plaster. You don't want to commit to the entire area in Venetian Plaster, maybe because of your style, maybe because you are unsure if you will like it or maybe because it can be a costly commitment. Whatever your reasons why not try some accent areas to bring out interesting features in the area, or add a splash of color without overdoing it.
I met Nicole Marsalis several months ago and we talked for a while about options she had for her entry area. An area that is very large and open, which is most homes these days. Where do I stop and start, what if I don't like it, how will it wear on the walls etc.
Below is what we came up with. A nice Latte color on the walls in a matte finish (which is slightly more washable than flat), beautiful Latte in polished Venetian Plaster highlighting two alcoves in that area and a great orange splash of color to bring out the beauty in some of her treasures.
It completely warmed the space, made it more inviting and yet elegant with the pops of polished plaster.
Here are a few snapshots.
